As we are all learning more and more about COVID-19 and seeing reports of directives and orders throughout California and the greater Bay Area, we are trying to ensure the highest level of care for both our employees and the larger community.
This leads to some really tough decisions during very challenging times. We have no choice but to cancel all programming, reservations, and events at all GVRD facilities and parks, effective immediately. Additionally, we will have to close all GVRD facilities, all public restrooms, and some parks, effective immediately. At this point, we plan to close facilities through April 07, 2020. We will continue to follow the directives of federal, state, county, and city public health officials to keep all of our staff and our community as safe as possible.
Unfortunately, this leads to the hardest news to share. With the need to close all of our facilities and keep each other and our community safe, we also have to reduce the hours of most of our part-time employees to zero. Your supervisors will be speaking to you about your hours and schedule. Please don’t hesitate to reach out to Human Resources with any questions, firstname.lastname@example.org. These are unprecedented times and we want to ensure that all of our part-time employees can file for unemployment ASAP. Thankfully the state has lifted the one week waiting period for unemployment insurance, and folks should be able to access that resource immediately. Here’s the link for unemployment from EDD: https://www.edd.ca.gov/about_edd/coronavirus-2019.htm?fbclid=IwAR3MYBW4a4hbM6ggCIJmGONYk51CZZWb6HKCVN6duXFlTdVlkw-3J_Ko0pM
As you’ve likely seen at this point, San Francisco has issued a shelter in place for 6 Bay Area Counties. Thus far, Solano County has not been listed as a county needing to shelter in place. However, we have employees who live in the impacted counties and we anticipate that Solano will likely receive a shelter in place directive as well. As such, we will be moving forward with a skeleton full-time staff at 395 and 401 Amador and we are asking that any full-time employee who is able to work remotely to do so starting Tuesday, March 17th, 2020.
Employees with email accounts that have smart phones or laptops already have remote access to their email. Another means of remote access is via the email server web portal.
We are in the process of creating projects to allow part-time recreation employees to gain some hours as we are able. This all conditional based upon public health recommendations. Additionally, it looks like Raley’s and Safeway are conducting mass hiring right now for anyone interested: https://www.sacbee.com/news/coronavirus/article241226811.html?fbclid=IwAR08YnRcXDAEHrblXRCyJI_P26VkhW5AOPRMlGKylXSUr6Y-q7Pi6ip7zsI
We wish the best for your and your family’s health and safety.
