Greater Vallejo Recreation District Update on Staff Safety

GVRD is deeply committed to the safety and well-being of every employee across our community centers, parks, and offices, and we want each member of our team to return home safely at the end of every workday. Community center safety remains a major priority, and to support both staff and visitors, we require security guards at all events to assist staff when violations occur and to help ensure that renters can fully enjoy the spaces we provide. Currently, all employees receive safety training upon hire, with ongoing monthly trainings provided for our Parks and Recreation staff to maintain strong preparedness and awareness. We are proud to share that our 2025 safety review from our insurance carrier resulted in a score of over 90%, reflecting our active efforts to foster a secure workplace. Staff are always encouraged to bring concerns to their supervisors or directly to me, as we strive to work collaboratively to strengthen safety while continuing to deliver exceptional recreational and park services to Vallejo.
