The Greater Vallejo Recreation District (GVRD) believes recreation should be accessible to everyone. The Active-Aging Scholarship Program provides eligible adults ages 55 and older with scholarship assistance to participate in qualifying GVRD recreation programs and classes.

Approved participants may receive up to $150 in scholarship assistance toward eligible GVRD programs and classes.

Please note: Scholarship funds may not be used toward GVRD special events.

Who Qualifies?

To qualify for the Active-Aging Scholarship Program, applicants must:

• Be 55 years of age or older
• Reside within GVRD boundaries
• Complete an Active-Aging Scholarship Application
• Provide a valid photo ID
• Provide proof of Vallejo residency
• Provide documentation demonstrating financial eligibility

Applicants must provide documentation for at least one of the following qualifying criteria:

• Partnership HealthPlan of California coverage
• Medi-Cal
• CalFresh/Golden State Advantage EBT Card
• CalWORKs
• Social Security Supplemental Income (SSI) or Social Security Disability Income (SSDI)
• Solano County Health & Social Services – Employment & Eligibility Division
• Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF)
• Public Assistance through the City of Vallejo Housing Authority
• Proof that annual household income is less than 250% of the Federal Poverty Level

Eligibility requirements are based on GVRD's FY 2026–27 Active-Aging Scholarship criteria.

Applications will be reviewed for eligibility and required documentation before scholarship assistance is approved.

Using Your Scholarship

• Receive up to $150 toward eligible GVRD programs and classes
• Scholarship funds cannot be used for special events
• Scholarship assistance is based on available funding
• Scholarship funds are non-transferable and non-refundable
• Scholarship assistance must be approved before registration
• Other discounts cannot be combined with the Active-Aging Scholarship
• Participants may use the scholarship toward eligible programs/classes until their approved scholarship amount has been exhausted
