Greater Vallejo Recreation District Community Update on Franklin Recreation Center Park Plans
VALLEJO, CA — The Greater Vallejo Recreation District (GVRD) invites residents to a Community Update Meeting to help shape the future of the Franklin Recreation Center Park—the former Franklin Middle School site. The meeting will be held on Thursday, December 4, 2025, at 6:30pm at 401 Amador Street, Vallejo, CA.
This interactive session, facilitated by Callander & Associates, will offer the community an opportunity to review concept plan and design ideas, share feedback, and participate in Interactive activities that will guide the development of this new recreation hub for Vallejo.
In 2023, GVRD was awarded a $7 million state grant through the California State Parks Office of Grants and Local Services to transform the former school site into a vibrant community recreation complex. The future Franklin Recreation Center Park aims to provide much-needed spaces for sports, recreation, and community gatherings, improving access to quality recreation opportunities for residents of all ages.
“Community input is vital to ensure the new Franklin Recreation Center Park reflects the needs and aspirations of Vallejo residents,” said GVRD General Manager. “We’re excited to collaborate with the community as we turn this vision into reality.”
Residents, neighbors, and user groups are encouraged to attend and share their comments.
