Hello Vallejoans,

I would like to say “thanks” to the people and organizations that donated this past winter for our food drive, toy drive, and other GVRD events.  It was truly appreciated by many kids and families.  We here at GVRD are also thankful to see the community help others who need help.

Spring and Summer are almost here.  The weather will get warmer, trees will get their leaves, and the sun will set later each day.  What does this mean to you?  What does recreation mean to you?  We have been working on improving our parks, playgrounds, pools, and community centers for all of you.  We have an agreement with the school district for 30 years at Franklin School and we are fixing it up.  We also received California State Grant money to improve the fields at Franklin, and make improvements at Terrace, Setterquist, and Lake Dalwigk.  We are using Measure K to improve the Pool and other areas throughout Vallejo.  

On another note, we are celebrating our 80th year working for Vallejo.  The community in 1944 decided to create a Parks and Recreation special district.  We hope to provide these services for another 80 years.  Thanks to you all.

Me gustaría agradecer a las personas y organizaciones que donaron el invierno pasado para nuestra colecta de alimentos, colecta de juguetes y otros eventos de GVRD. Fue realmente apreciado por muchos niños y familias. Aquí en GVRD también estamos agradecidos de ver a la comunidad ayudar a otros que necesitan ayuda.

La primavera y el verano ya casi están aquí. El clima se volverá más cálido, los árboles tendrán sus hojas y el sol se pondrá más tarde cada día. ¿Qué significa esto para usted? ¿Qué significa para usted la recreación? Hemos estado trabajando para mejorar nuestros parques, áreas de juego, piscinas y centros comunitarios para todos ustedes. Tenemos un acuerdo con el distrito escolar por 30 años en la Escuela Franklin y lo estamos arreglando. También recibimos dinero de una subvención del estado de California para mejorar los campos en Franklin y hacer mejoras en Terrace, Setterquist y Lake Dalwigk. Estamos utilizando la Medida K para mejorar la piscina y otras áreas en todo Vallejo.

Por otra parte, celebramos nuestros 80 años trabajando para Vallejo. En 1944, la comunidad decidió crear un distrito especial de Parques y Recreación. Esperamos brindar estos servicios por otros 80 años. Gracias a todos.
